About the Author

Grant Smith has been working with the law for a total of seven years as an entrepreneur, product developer and paralegal. He has come to know some of the best lawyers on the west coast and has learned from them how to use lawyers. Law is everything to him because of its enabling and protecting power. Aside from his businesses, he is an avid reader, has almost 600 books in his personal library (about 100 of which pertain to law, public policy and philosophy), is a dedicated husband and father, and plans on attending law school himself.

His heroes include John Adams and his wife Abigail (whom he named his daughter after), William Wilberforce, Theodore Roosevelt, Jesus and Winston Churchill. He enjoys woodcarving, pole-vaulting, pastel painting, writing, reading,  road biking, and learning about anything that sparks his curiosity – especially the law. Some of his companies have included a product development firm (Kedekko LLC), a design firm (MongoFuel LLC), an advertising company (EmberFlash), a Mobile DJing business (Sonic Entertainment), and an architectural woodcarving business (Cornerstone Carvings). His first entrepreneurial venture was teaching kids in his high school how to pick locks. He sold lessons and small pick sets – but only to his trustworthy friends.
